こうげ【香華】

incense and flowers; incense and floral tributes; (funeral) offerings.

●香華を手向(_たむ)ける burn incense and offer flowers 《before the deceased》; make an offering of incense and flowers 《to the spirit of the deceased》.

香華料 a condolatory [monetary] offering to a departed spirit; incense and flower money.

こうげ【高下】

1 〔高騰と低落〕 fluctuations; rise and fall. [⇒らんこうげ]

～する fluctuate 《in price》; rise and fall.

●株価が激しく高下している. Stock prices are fluctuating wildly.

●相場の高下は甚だしくない. The fluctuations in price are slight.

2 〔階級の上下〕 rank; grade; 〔質の優劣〕 quality.

●品質は高下いろいろである be of various qualities; be varied in quality.

●この 2 つの品にはほとんど高下がない. There is little to choose between the two goods.

●身分の高下を問わず irrespective of rank

・高下をつける grade; discriminate 《between things》.
